Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-7 Trop - Hasegawa

Bf 109´s are one of my favourite subjects - they saw action from the Spanish Civil War throughout the end of WW II in all war theaters with German involvement. They can be built in multiple versions and various - sometimes very attractive - camouflage schemes. All kit manufacturers have at least one Bf 109 in their portfolio. I have a few more in my stash, mainly Hasegawa, Eduard and Tamiya issues. All of them are quick and enjoyable builts.

This one is the Hasegawa kit from the 90ies that you can also find in my first kit recommendation post, but the E4/7 version. This "Schwarze 8" in its RLM 78/79/80 scheme is a very well known subject, because various contemporary colour pictures exist that were used for propaganda purposes. The red outline of the black 8 does not conform to the standard marking colours. Some sources state that it was flown by German ace Werner Schröer, but this is incorrect. I used aftermarket PE seatbelts and replaced some of the kit´s decals. This aircraft represents a Bf 109 E-7 Trop from JG 27, flown by Franz Elles in Lybia in 1941.
