Fieseler Fi 156 Storch - Tamiya

Reconnaissance and liaison planes are usually not part of my preferred prey pattern. Although I like to go off the mainstream once in a while, I rather fancy fighters and bombers. This changed when I opened Tamiya´s hundred´s kit milestone box, which quite surprisingly turned out to be this Fieseler Storch in 2008. And what a kit this is! Tamiya somehow managed to mould some of the clear parts INTEGRALLY into the grey fuselage parts, and plenty of goodies such as jerry cans, fuel drums and several well moulded figurines are provided in the box as a welcome addition. The rest is lovely moulded details, fabulous engineering and perfect fit - all in all a very joyful building experience. Due to complex bracings and other delicate parts (which I managed NOT to break during the build), I would however not recommend this kit to a complete rookie. The model was fully built out of the box, including decals. It represents a historical subject, as this is the Storch that was used to free Italian dictator Mussolini from Gran Sasso in September 1943 during the "Operation Eiche".

After all, I might add an Airfix Lysander to my stash...
